The Greens Are Fighting To Censure Pauline Hanson After Being Called Out For Her Racist Behaviour

Greens senators Larissa Waters and Mehreen Faruqi have lodged a Senate motion calling for Parliament to censure One Nation leader Pauline Hanson.

Earlier this month Hanson told Faruqi to “piss off back to Pakistan,” in response to her comments about the Queen’s death.

The Greens senator said she couldn’t mourn the Queen as she was the “leader of a racist empire built on stolen lives, land and wealth of colonised peoples.”

Senator Waters and Faruqi hope this motion will affirm parliament’s stance on racist behaviours.

“I call on my colleagues to support the motion and affirm that racism has no place in our public debate,” says Senator Faruqi.

In addition to censuring Senator Hanson, the motions calls for the Senate to “condemn all racism and discrimination against migrants and people of colour,” “assure all migrants to Australia that they are valued,” and affirm that Parliament does not tolerate “racism or discrimination in the course of parliamentarians’ public debate.”

Unsurprisingly Senator Hanson wasn’t too pleased with the Greens, and insinuated Senator Faruqi can say what she wants because of the colour of her skin.

“So Senator Faruqi is allowed to say and do anything she wants and no one can call her out because she has brown skin and is a migrant,” she wrote on Twitter, “Senator Malcolm Roberts was born in India - does that mean he isn’t allowed to be critiqued? Or is he fair game because his skin is white?”

Plenty of 'well-wishers' on social media have jumped at the chance to congratulate the new queer ally and the new MAGA slogan "Make America Gay Again."

Constance Wu Opens Up About Her Experience Being Sexually Harassed On The Set Of 'Fresh Off The Boat'

**Trigger Warning - this story discusses sexual harassment.**

During an appearance at The Atlantic Festival, Crazy Rich Asians actress Constance Wu opened up about her traumatic experience on the set of hit TV series 'Fresh Off The Boat.'

She says she faced "sexual harassment and intimidation" from an unnamed producer during the first two seasons of the comedy series.

"A few people knew [the harassment] was happening, and to go to work every day and see those people who knew that he was sexually harassing me being ‘buddy-buddy’ with him felt like a betrayal every time,” says Wu, "I loved everybody on that crew, and I loved working on that show, but it had that history of abuse, that it started with, and even though I handled it after two years, I was looking forward to a clean slate."

Wu says she "kept my mouth shut for a really long time," as she didn't want to "stain the reputation of the show."

"That show was historic for Asian Americans," she says, "it was the only show on network television in over 20 years to star Asian Americans and I did not want to sully the reputation of the one show we had representing us."

Rupert Murdoch Newspaper Receives Backlash For Racist Headline

Adelaide newspaper, The Advertiser, has been called out for publishing an article over the weekend with a racist headline.

The South Australia paper published a story titled, "Black, Young and Ruthless: New Gang Terrorises Luxury Car Owners."

This story comes after three teenage boys were found allegedly breaking into cars in Maylands, SA, last week.

Activists and Jarjum Dolls founders, known as Dreamtime Aroha, called out the Murdoch paper for its offensive depiction of the youths.

"Maybe instead of headlining straight up RACISM Murdochs muppets should have the two missing Aboriginal children that haven’t been seen for 5 days in South Australia on the front page?," they wrote on social media, "because I’ve got some news for people… YT PEOPLE STEAL CARS AS WELL."

The Advertiser has yet to apologise for the story or change the offensive headline.

This isn't the first time Bieber has profited off beauty trends that originated from women of colour.

The model is known for bringing the "clean girl" aesthetic to the mainstream, despite the trend being heavily inspired by Black and Latina women.

The beloved drag queen competed in the second season of Drag Race UK in 2021.

"It is with the most heart-wrenching and deepest sadness to inform you that our George – Cherry Valentine – has tragically passed away," Valentine's family said in a statement.

"As his family, we are still processing his death and our lives will never be the same. We understand how much he is loved and how many lives he has inspired and touched. All we ask is for your patience and your prayers in this time. We love you Georgie."

She worked the frontline as a vaccination administrator during the COVID pandemic.

AFL Coaches Allegedly Told A First Nations Player To Convince His Partner To Get An Abortion

**Trigger Warning: This story discusses pregnancy loss, self-harm and intergenerational trauma for First Nations people.**

Troubling stories about the mistreatment of First Nations people in AFL have become public after an external review was commissioned by the Hawthorn Football Club.

Between the years 2013 and 2015, First Nations players at Hawthorn were allegedly bullied by coaches and forced to ostracise themselves from their families for the sake of their careers.

The coaches involved in these troubling stories include former Hawthorn 'Senior Coach' Alastair Clarkson, former 'Player Development Manager' Jason Burt, and former Hawthorn 'General Manager of Football' and 'Head of Coaching and Development' Chris Fagan.

The coaches allegedly told a player name Ian* to convince his partner to terminate a pregnancy.

"Clarkson just leaned over me and demanded that I needed to get rid of my unborn child and my partner," says Ian*, "he told me to kill my unborn kid."

Ian* says he was "then manipulated and convinced to remove his SIM card from his phone, so there was no further contact" with his pregnant partner and children.

"They told me I’d be living with one of the other coaches from that night onwards," he says.

According to his partner, Amy*, the club wouldn't allow her to see or even communicate with her partner.

"[Burt] said Hawthorn had decided it was better for Ian's footy career if he didn't become a father," she says, "he was already a father!"

Other First Nations players at the club were also forcibly separated from their loved ones which led to mental health issues including attempted suicide.

The AFL has since released a statement saying they're "committed to providing a safe, welcoming and culturally appropriate environment for all players and staff."

"The AFL is finalising a process to investigate the allegations and has sought further details of those who shared their experiences in order to progress its investigation," the statement says, "the AFL is committed to ensuring all who shared their experiences are fully supported through this process.

In response to this troubling news, Fagan has taken a leave of absence from the Brisbane Lions as the Senior Coach.

The Brisbane football club says Fagan "supports and welcomes the investigation."

Popular Aussie Influencer Skye Wheatley Says OnlyFans Creators "End Marriages"

With over 600,000 followers on Instagram, Skye Wheatley is among some of the most popular content creators in Australia.

In a recent video on Michael Finch's YouTube channel, the 27 year old said OnlyFans creators are ruining relationships and "ending marriages" because women discover their partners are "secretly" subscribed to pornographic content.

"I like to make my money by approving a product or loving a product organically and sharing it with my audience rather than fucking myself with a fucking dildo and making money off [it]," she says, "do you know how many girls that go through their boyfriend’s phone and see that they’re secretly subscribed to a girl’s OnlyFans? That’s the end of a fucking marriage right there. It’s actually ludicrous."

Skye Wheatley has since responded to the backlash and claims her conversation with Michael Finch was never meant to be made public.

"I'm so upset it's been posted online this was out of my control," she wrote in a now deleted Instagram comment, "I was having a conversation with a so called friend out of anger. Shocked it's been posted TBH. Trust no one."

Five Protesters Killed In Iran Following The Death Of Mahsa Amini

Protests have erupted in various cities across Iran in response to the death of 22 year old Mahsa Amini.

She reportedly was not complying with Iran's strict hijab regulations by wearing a headscarf that didn't properly cover her hair and neck.

She was arrested by Iran's "morality police" and allegedly beaten in the police van which led to her being hospitalised.

After several days in a coma, Amini was taken off life support.

Police claim she had pre-existing health conditions and died of a heart attack.

For three consecutive days thousands of people have taken to the streets of Iran in protest of the country's police brutality and hijab regulations.

Authorities have begun to use tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters from gathering in the streets.

According to the human rights watchdog, Hengaw, at least five people have been killed by Iranian security forces.
